Obscenely Gorgeous Cactus Flowers

I scrambled up a cliff near Elephant Head in the Santa Rita Mountains to nab this photo of a pincushion cactus in riotous full bloom.

The most spectacular blooms we ever saw occurred in my own front yard, on this unidentified cactus -- maybe a stenocereus? Both flowers opened and dusk and honored me with the most delicate possible fragrance for one night only.
