The crisis is even larger in other countries. Over 25,000 people die from hunger related causes every day and the number is growing. When the U.S. government failed to respond to Katrina, Food Not Bombs organize bus loads of food and volunteers to head down to the Gulf Region to feed the survivors. We were feeding people in New Orleans less than three days after the storm hit. Because of our reputation for organizing one of America's largest food relief efforts Food Not Bombs is being asked to prepare for the current economic collapse. For the past 29 years Food Not Bombs has been feeding people in hundreds of communities all over the world absolutely free of charge and without restriction. Food Not Bombs has no paid staff and is an all volunteer movement. Your contribution goes directly towards ending hunger, poverty and war. Food Not Bombs not only shares food at our weekly meals we have organized and fed many actions including peace rallies, anti-globalizations protests, at actions in support of Native American and aboriginal land struggles, people defending the earth, and animal rights actions. We fed Bangkok occupations in 2008, the Orange Revolution in the Ukraine, started animal rescue shelters in 24 cities in Slovokia and fed Peace Camps on the West Bank of Palistine. We also organize Homes Not Jails actions (to house the homeless), plant community gardens through Food Not Lawns, and share information and music through the free radio movement. We provide food to the homeless and hungry, day care centers, and the families of workers on strike. New Food Not Bombs groups are starting every day all over the world. There are over a thousand chapters collecting, cooking and sharing free food. We are also organizing gatherings to investigate new ways to bring peace and social justice to our world.
