A photo of the first arrest of Food Not Bombs. Nine volunteers were arrested on August 15, 1988,
at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco charged with sharing food without a permit.
The volunteers had applied for a permit in early July but several inquiries about the progress of the permits were
ignored by the city until nearly 30 police arrived and arrested the volunteers.
