Please feel free to reprint this logo. Food Not Bombs co-founder Keith McHenry designed the Food Not Bombs in 1981 logo while living at the first Food Not Bombs house at 195 Harvard Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Keith did not copy-write the logo so that it can be used by anyone to support the ideas of Food Not Bombs. The leaves of the carrot were drawn to represent the torch of liberty and the fist idea was a symbol borrowed from the left idea of united we are strong as in the logo of Students for a Democratic Society. The hand is purple to represent all the races of the world. Food Not Bombs co-founder Sue Eaton suggested that the fist be purple for that reason while making a banner for the October 31, 1981 protest against George H. Bush at MIT.

Keith McHenry invites everyone to use this image for any positive perpose and releases the Food Not Bombs logo into the public domain. Keith also invites you to re-draw it in any way you wish. Change out the carrot to be an ear of corn, fist full of rice or a pepper. Feell free to use your imagination.
